The government today extended the deadline for hajj registration “for the last time” amid concerns that the quota for the annual pilgrimage won’t be fulfilled.

According to a circular of the Religious Affairs Ministry issued this evening, the deadline for hajj registration has been extended till March 21.

In the circular signed by Deputy Secretary Abul Kashem Mohammad Shahin, it was mentioned that the deadline has been extended for the last time based on requests of the aspiring hajj pilgrims.

Due to a poor response from the pilgrims, the religious affairs ministry on March 7 extended the deadline for the third time for registration. According to the hajj office at city’s Ashkona, a total of 1,08,909 people have completed their registration as of filing this report at 7:00pm against the hajj quota of 1.27 lakh.
